Having a grinding noise coming from my right rear side only, more noticeable at low speed and in one certain spot of the wheel rotation.

So here's what I did with no success...

Replaced rear rotors and pads.
Replaced rear e-brake shoes and all the hardware.
Replaced caliper pins and bushings.
Lubed, sanded and cleaned the s#it out of everything possible.
Adjusted the e-brake shoes at the rotor and e-brake handle cable under drivers seat.
Ripped out the rusty inner rotor shield.

All that and the noise is still there.

It definitely sounds like it's coming from the brakes, when applying brakes noise becomes significantly greater.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Classic symptom of old rear differential fluid. NOT the brakes.

Buy 2 litres of Dual Pump II fluid from a dealer, crush washers too, and perhaps a little pump to pump the new stuff back in.

Release the fill bolt first, then drain & fill (takes ~ 1.3L)

Post back with results!

In the future, do a drain & fill every 50,000 km or 3 years....

Thank you, I was going to do the diff fluid soon too but will definitely try it first before I try anything else.
It is high mileage and I recently picked it up with no records of the rear diff service.

If that eliminates the noise, some folks will recommend a second drain & fill after a short drive. You will need another liter of DPII, but hey, do it again while its fresh in your mind! :giggle:

Gen2 bearing indicate failure when you get a HMMM during 40 - 50MPH curves, when the bearing is under load.
On a RH curve, its the LH bearing, and vice-versa.

Excess play is not usually evident...

Do you have the link for the e-brake hardware kit?
