Expanded Side View Mirror

I'm curious has anyone purchased the "Expanded Side View Mirror" accessory? I have this on my Odyssey and have found it to be helpful.

I ordered this from my dealer, but they later they called me back to explain that according to Honda the part isn't available yet in the US. I take everything the dealer says with a grain of salt but I'm curious if others have had the same experience. Also it is showing up on Honda's website as an available accessory. Thanks!

I'm curious to know too. I saw it in the website build a vehicle, but at $31-ish it seemed low (unless that is +31 over the regular mirror cost). Given all that is in the mirrors (heat, turn signal, blind spot indication) I would think it would be more.
Did they give you a price as an add on order?
In browsing the dealer lots (US) before I bought mine, I didn't notice any '17s with it preinstalled.

I asked at the parts department when I dropped my car off to have the "dent" in the driver's seat side bolster repaired (see other thread), and was told that the side view mirror option isn't available for the Touring. Perhaps it's only available for models without the blind spot detection and/or heat?

That doesn't sound right since the Expanded View Mirror is an optional accessory for every model of the 2017 CR-V on the Honda website. Even though the picture does not show the BSIS in the mirror, it seems like the optional mirror is available. I am not sure what the $31 buys you though, maybe it's just a piece that sticks over the existing mirror?

They charged us $61 for the expanded view side mirror, but then they called and said it isn't available on the Touring. I get the feeling it is just another ****** mirror that that they insert into the current mirror, and it would cover up the blind spot warning, or something. Is this a new feature first time for Hondas? I agree the website shows it, and the sale staff will sell it for a new bar, but the dealer installation guys say it is not available for the Touring. I guess we'll get our $61 back.

My 2016 has it. It's about a 30mm wide section at the far left of the mirror. It is very minimally convex and gives very little additional field of view compared to the plain mirror. It came on the vehicle. I wouldn't pay extra for it. If the mirror is set properly it shows everything anyway. Now that I've experienced it I definitely wouldn't pay more the next time. YMMV (your mirror may vary)

Another vote for not worth it. Had one on our 2015 and I do not miss it at all in the 2017 - even with the paltry price. It's not good enough to trust completely - the BSI system easily replaces its function. (I do miss the lane assist camera on the right - it was great when my wife was putting on her makeup using the visor mirror, I could still make that lane change without the mirror. :)

When I first started looking for a new car I test drove a couple hondas with the extended view mirror and found it more than annoying and distracting. I have vision issues which may exacerbate this, though. I also test drove with the lane assist camera and wish they hadn't deleted this from the MY17. They could have kept this as an option...maybe if enough people want it back they will add it back with the mid cycle refresh, like they brought the volume knob back? I still can't understand that one! I haven't used that knob once, the slider works perfectly fine for me.

I am so glad they dropped that on the '17. I sit all the way back so my field of vision from the mirror is small to start with and then the distorted view on the left side of the mirror in my 2012 meant I was never comfortable with a quick glance back at cars behind me. I love the large mirrors on my Silverado (and the speakers kick the butt of the CR-V Touring.)
